Description of the role:

An exciting opportunity to join our team of Volunteers supporting the Reception and Administration staff based at The Lambert, who are the first point of contact for anybody arriving at the Hospice.

Key responsibilities will include answering and directing telephone enquiries, greeting patients and clients, their visitors and staff, ensuring they are warmly welcomed at all times, as well as undertaking a variety of administration tasks.

The Reception desk is staffed Monday to Friday and volunteers can undertake part or full day cover. The volunteer rota is set a month in advance and volunteers will be contacted to gain their availability at least 2 weeks in advance.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

Volunteers will need to have a good telephone manner, be polite and pleasant.
They will need to show empathy and patience and have excellent listening skills.
Volunteers must be reliable, flexible and be able to multitask.
Previous experience in reception and administrative role is essential.
Good computer skills are essential for this role particularly in Word and Excel.

Practical information:

Full training will be provided, and each volunteer is required to complete mandatory training on our online platform. All volunteers will receive an induction into the organisation and the role they will be undertaking.
