Background to the Group
The Connecting Ripon Network held its first meeting in January 2014. The network comprises voluntary, community and faith sector organisations which have come together to identify what was special about community life in Ripon and its surrounding villages and to agree on three priority themes that could help strengthen community connections.
The three themes identified were:
- Celebrate and strengthen volunteering in Ripon and its surrounding villages
- Support the development of inter-generational projects which benefit local communities
- Increase awareness of what’s happening in terms of new opportunities to learn; earn; socialise; volunteer and to raise support for good causes through new media such as social media and superfast broadband.
The network aims to contribute towards the development of a more ‘Connected Ripon’ as part of the Ripon City Plan.
The group have worked together on shared initiatives and have a monthly column in the Ripon Gazette.
