Mental Health Research UK is a national charity, but we are building up a volunteer base in North Yorkshire.
We are dedicated to supporting research into mental health conditions. If you are passionate about improving care and treatment for mental ill health, but aren't a scientist, this could be your opportunity to make a real difference.
We are looking for a volunteer Administrator to help with the day-to-day running of the charity. The administrator monitors the administration email inbox and responds to queries or passes to relevant volunteers or trustees. They organise the monthly trustee business meetings by zoom and the full trustee meetings (normally 3 per year). They pick up some administrative actions where not covered by other volunteers or trustees. They will work closely with the Chair of Trustees, who will provide line management.
We welcome applications from all sections of the community. We are looking for a team player who will work with our volunteers and trustees to support the work of the charity and to liaise with our supporters and the students fund.

4. Ability to communicate with a wide range of people effectively and courteously whilst maintaining professional standards, adapting your language and style of communication depending on who you are communicating with.
5. Ability to deal with requests for information or service, resolving issues where appropriate, or being able to escalate where necessary.
6. Ability to plan and organise your own workload.
7. Ability to use your initiative to solve problems and respond to queries, finding and proposing the best solution.
8. Familiarity with zoom or other meeting platforms.
9. An interest in the aims and objectives of Mental Health Research UK.
Desirable criteria:
1. Experience or understanding of Higher Education environments.
2. Experience of working alongside other volunteers .
3. Experience of working in a charity.
4. Experience with basic spreadsheets.
5. Experience of using google drive (or willingness to learn).
This is a home-based opportunity. An internet connection is essential. We envisage that the role will require approximately 10 hours per week, to be configured flexibly around other commitments. Any equipment necessary (such as a laptop) will be provided, as well as expenses.
