Ripon Together was set up to make Ripon an even better place to live and work in. It brings individuals and bodies together to enhance the community, economic and environmental sustainability of our city.
Walk to School is an important element of Ripon Together activities promoting care for our environment and healthy lifestyles for younger people. Walk to School Days take place once every half-term, although many schools promote good transport habits on a daily and weekly basis, to improve air quality, reduce congestion and improve pupil health and wellbeing. Pupils are delighted to be rewarded with a 'high five' from Spike, the Road Safety Hedgehog, when they arrive at the school gate! To celebrate pupil efforts this year we held a photo competition.
We appreciate this is a volunteering role and we are open to welcoming anyone who would like to learn new skills, however the following existing skills would be really useful:
Communication skills
Ability to encourage and motivate busy people to become involved in long term projects.
Good with children.
Good team worker
Reliable and organised
Be willing to be DBS checked
Ability to follow safeguarding policy as a representative of Ripon Together
Have some local knowledge of Ripon and the community
The role requires communication with Zero Carbon Harrogate and Local Schools once for each term. We estimate that the role should take no more than a few hours each half term.
