House Ambassadors

House Ambassadors
Harewood House
Description of the role:

We are looking to grow the number of House Ambassadors who volunteer with us at weekends hosting a room in Harewood House. Harewood House is an 18th century historic house and accredited museum.

The role of a House Ambassador involves chatting with our visitors, for many of whom it is their first visit. You’ll learn and share all about the history of Harewood House, its collections and the people who have lived there.

We strive to acknowledge and remember our history and will support you in engaging with Harewood’s troubled past sensitively. Through our exhibitions and the new work that we commission, you will learn about how the Trust actively supports and collaborates with artists, individuals and community groups from diverse backgrounds.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

No previous volunteering experience is required. All we ask is that you are friendly, enjoy chatting to people and are passionate about sharing interesting stories about Harewood with a diverse range of visitors.

Practical information:

We can offer morning or afternoon shifts and would expect you to commit to at least two shifts a month . There is no need to keep to the same day each week and we are particularly keen to recruit more weekend volunteers. We offer an induction programme and make sure you are buddied up with an experienced volunteer before being asked to host a room on your own. Harewood is well served by the 36 bus service between Leeds and Harrogate.
