Could you be our next Trustee?
Do you have the skills and experience to make a difference?
Do you have the passion to support families of children with special educational needs and disabilities?
About Ohana:
Ohana is a non-profit making registered charity originally set up in 2015 as a parent initiated group offering support and friendship to families coping with the unique challenge that is involved in raising a child with special educational needs or a disability. Many parents/carers worked together to bring about positive change to the community in and around Ripon by organising activities, support networks, and inclusive events for these families.
Now we are at a very exciting point in our charity’s future. After securing a grant from the National Lottery community fund, we are relaunching the services we offer. As a result, we are expanding our board of Trustees to support Ohana as we move forward.

Ohana is a parent initiated, professionally led group offering support and friendship to all families coping with the unique challenge that is involved in raising a child with special educational needs or a disability. Having gained charitable status in 2015, we share our experience of living and working with children with additional needs to bring positive change to the community.
There is no need to have a diagnosis or an official or professional referral, although we welcome contact with and work alongside other agencies. Our aim is to meet the needs of each family in a way which suits them best.
We are all parents ourselves that have been through the process and we believe that by bringing all our knowledge together of what works and what doesn’t – we can help others. It’s a safe bet that if we haven’t got the right answer, we will pretty well know who can give it to you.
