Help us get our Saturday Play Club off the ground!

Help us get our Saturday Play Club off the ground!
Ohana
Description of the role:

Would you like to be part of a team making a positive difference to families of children with special educational needs and disabilities? Following our National Lottery funding, we can't wait to launch our Saturday Play Club; before we can get going, we need a team of volunteers to help sort out the toys and equipment so we can be ready for action when our families come and join us. This will involve checking our toys are in good condition and reorganising our storage areas so they are user friendly. Think you can help? Then please get in touch.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

Many of our volunteers in the past have been school age though we welcome volunteers from all walks of life-please be aware there may be some light physical lifting involved.

Practical information:

A high proportion of the task will take place outdoors on a Saturday.

Organisation Information

Ohana is a parent initiated, professionally led group offering support and friendship to all families coping with the unique challenge that is involved in raising a child with special educational needs or a disability. Having gained charitable status in 2015, we share our experience of living and working with children with additional needs to bring positive change to the community.

There is no need to have a diagnosis or an official or professional referral, although we welcome contact with and work alongside other agencies. Our aim is to meet the needs of each family in a way which suits them best.

We are all parents ourselves that have been through the process and we believe that by bringing all our knowledge together of what works and what doesn’t – we can help others. It’s a safe bet that if we haven’t got the right answer, we will pretty well know who can give it to you.
