The Sibling Group supports children who have a brother or sister with special needs and disabilities. It has been set up by an adult sibling as they understand the challenges siblings face. The support groups give children a fun and safe space to have respite from their family home and allow them to meet others with similar experiences. We hope it will support the well-being and mental health of children and their families.
This volunteer role will include supporting the running of the support groups and trips. We would like you to engage with the attendees of the groups and support in delivering the activities offered. The role will also include supporting with setting up the activities for the support group and tidying up after the session.
It will involve working directly with children aged 6-11 years old and speaking with parents.
We would like you to be confident, professional and fun. You must enjoy working with children and really value the work we do at The Sibling Group. We would like you to have some understanding and experience of working with children and/or families.
We provide all volunteers with our policies and these must be followed to keep the children safe and happy. All volunteers are DBS checked. We expect volunteers to arrive half an hour before the session to help set up and stay half an hour after the session to help tidy up. It will be 3 hours in total per session and these are monthly.
We are also starting to run trips so if you were able to support trips that would be great too.
