Description of the role:

Yorkshire Regional Netball Association is one of nine member organisations of England Netball, and is run by a management board of volunteers. We represent England Netball members in Yorkshire, and work closely with England Netball staff to deliver and develop netball in Yorkshire.

The Yorkshire Board works closely with our four County Netball Associations: Humberside Netball, North Yorkshire Netball, South Yorkshire Netball and West Yorkshire Netball. We also work closely with Leeds Rhinos Netball, our member leagues, clubs, education institutions and other key stakeholders who share our commitment to delivering great netball experiences in Yorkshire.

We're looking for a secretary to join our Regional Management Board to keep the team and our work organised. Working with the Chair, this role involves arranges a calendar of Board meetings, talking minutes, managing remote meeting links and filing systems. Our current Chair is leaving the country in January and we are looking for a new Secretary as soon as possible.

Regional Management Board Responsibilities:

Yorkshire Netball Regional Management Board members are collectively responsible for:
Governance of netball in Yorkshire
Working as One with Regional & Local England Netball staff
Gathering and sharing regional Insight
Communicating membership benefits
Delivering regional competition
Promotion & recognition of the people who make netball happen
Working in Partnership with our Netball Superleague Franchise
Strategic development of officiating assessment & mentoring
Community communication
Ensuring netball in Yorkshire is inclusive to everyone

What The Role Involves:

The Vice Chair is responsible for supporting the Chair in leading the Regional Management Board and leading the Governance and Finance Group. This includes:

Supporting the Chair in the leadership of the Regional Management Board
Chairing Regional Management Board meetings in the absence of the Chair
Chairing the Governance and Finance Group meetings
Leading on activities that maintain and further the governance of the Regional Netball Association such as reviewing and developing policies and procedures
Leading on work to improve governance standards inline with Sport England’s governance code tiers
Ensuring that Yorkshire Netball complies with the our constitution
Ensuring that Yorkshire Netball complied with the rules, regulations, policies and procedures of England Netball
Chairing Regional Management Board meetings
Chairing the Annual General Meeting (and Extraordinary General Meetings if
required)
Maintaining a working relationship with England Netball’s designated Governance Lead, sharing national updates with the Board
Working with the Secretary to ensure that members receive accurate and timely information ahead of meetings and receive minutes following Governance and Finance meetings
Working in partnership with England Netball’s Partnerships and Delivery Manager, Regional Officer and local staff
Working in Partnership with National representatives of England Netball as required
Providing leadership, support and guidance to constituent County Associations and
members of the Region.
Acting as an ambassador and an advocate for the sport and Yorkshire Netball
Leading an inclusive and compassionate culture that focuses on valuing and respecting all, promoting equality, diversity and inclusion and widening participation
Adhering to the Regional Management Board Code of Behaviour

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

In order to be a volunteer on the Regional Management Board, you will need to be, or be willing to become a member of England Netball.
Sound understanding and knowledge of netball
Able to uphold the regions code of conduct and behave professionally at all times
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Strong leadership and people management skills
Good IT skills (Including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Publisher)
Ability to be flexible and work with volunteers from diverse backgrounds to build and maintain effective networks
Take an interest in and respect the viewpoints of others
Access to email, WhatsApp and telephone

Practical information:

This role is mainly remote and can be done flexibly in your own time.

You’ll be joining a friendly, welcoming and professional team of volunteers who are committed to supporting one another
You’ll be able to volunteer flexibility around work and life commitments
You’ll receive a full induction and be paired with another volunteer mentor
You will receive guidance, support and resources to help fulfill your role from the Regional Management Board and England Netball
Full expenses will be reimbursed for any occasional travel costs etc
This year Board members were also invited as VIP Guests to a Leeds Rhinos Netball SuperLeague game and to our annual Volunteer Awards Dinner at Headingley Stadium
