Leader or Helper - Girlguiding

Leader or Helper - Girlguiding
Girlguiding North Yorkshire West County
Description of the role:

Being a Guide leader or unit helper is fun and rewarding. Essentially, you need to attend once a week during term time, one evening a week for about 1.5 hours. You will also need to spend some time outside the meeting time for planning and preparation, but this depends on your time available.
One of the highlights is to watch the Guides grow and develop skills. At Guides, we help all girls know they can do anything.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

To start, you will need to undergo a DBS & reference check, plus do two short online courses to learn about our code of conduct and safeguarding procedure. There is no cost to you for the recruitment checks and they will be done locally by another volunteer.
Guide leaders & unit helpers come in all varieties, we are 18 - 99 years of age, from different backgrounds, and have different skills. Some of us love the outdoors, others love crafting, many love both.
Guiding is a team activity and this means that if you have a penchant for spreadsheets, you might want to take on the unit accounts, but if you don't, there's likely to be someone else who will.

Practical information:

Ideally, we would like someone who is able to commit to attending on a term-time weekly basis (1-2 hours on a Tuesday evening), but if you're interested in being involved and not available at these times, please still get in touch as there are other units around Harrogate who would welcome extra help. Or you could help out with something other than the unit leadership, such as shopping, accounts, planning or days out.
