Visitor Hosts make a visit to Ripon Museums standout. This role is designed to welcome visitors and set the scene before they begin their journey through the museum. It is a great position for anybody who is enthusiastic about history and sharing their knowledge with others. Whether you are looking to expand your historical knowledge or your social life, this is a fun and dynamic volunteering role.
What’s involved?
In this role you will be working with visitors to make their experience fun, fulfilling and informative. You will greet them, helping to answer their questions as they begin their tour. You will be responsible for handing out maps, gathering visitor questionnaires and ensuring that the front of house remains tidy.

There is no cash handling or use of a till in this role
Our 3 museums are open 6 days a week.
Hours are flexible as volunteers are needed across weekdays and weekends.
This opportunity is 2-3 hours either morning or afternoon
Volunteers can give as much time as they are able
Training will be provided
We are a few minutes walk away from Ripon Bus station. Car park is available for volunteer use.

Preservation of historic buildings and artefacts, education services and responsible for The Prison & Police, The Workhouse and The Courthouse Museums in Ripon. We have around 140 volunteers who fulfil a variety of roles which range from helping with education visits to gardening, cataloguing the collections to keeping our accounts, repairing brickwork to researching the stories behind the buildings.
