Description of the role:

Chaperones accompany our volunteer drivers to collect people for wellbeing services at our hub in Burton Leonard. It's important to us that the people attending our services are well looked after, so you'll welcome them onto the bus, ensure they are sitting comfortably and that they are safe throughout the journey.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

We are looking for friendly people who will make the journey fun, but who also feel confident about ensuring people's safety when they travel with us.

Practical information:

Journeys will start and end from our dementia hub in Burton Leonard. The chaperone role is mornings and afternoons, but volunteers may also like to stay and support the group activity during the day.

Dementia Forward is a local charity which supports people living with dementia across North Yorkshire. Dementia support advisors and a dementia specialist nurse provide a personalised service, from information and advice to practical and emotional support. In addition, under normal circumstances we run social events and weekly groups, focusing on wellbeing and peer support. Anyone can use this free service.
