Volunteer Welcomers and Guides are needed to help welcome visitors to Ripons beautiful cathedral and to ensure that guests get the most from their vists. Full training is offered by our dedicated team prior to taking up duties, and regular 'Volunteer Briefing Sessions' are held to update all volunteers on specific or general issues. There are also volunteering opportunities with pre-booked tour groups, and to volunteer with local school groups who visit, in conjunction with our education team. Generally, there are three 'shifts' a day Monday to Saturday - 10-12.15, 12.15 - 2.30 and 2.40 to 4.45 with one welcomer and one guide per shift. On a Sunday it is the two later shifts. You can sign up on a rota basis to suit your times and availability.
An ability to chat to people from all walks of life and from all cultures is desirable, as is a friendly and welcoming personality. Ideally, you will have an interest in historic buildings / churches, though full training will be offered to make sure you know all you need to know.
We ask for two hours once a fortnight or as often as you can help. Ripon is on the 36 bus route with good links and suitable car parking.

The Development Campaign raises funds for specific projects to ensure that this living centre of culture, Yorkshire hospitality, spirituality and heritage thrives now and into the future. In addition to coordinating a varied programme of fundraising events throughout the year, the Development Campaign offers a number of ways to support the Cathedral financially.
