Pinewoods Woodland Working Group Volunteer
Pinewoods Conservation Group
Description of the role:

We are a keen and friendly group of volunteers engaging in a variety of tasks including ride and footpath management (cutting back vegetation), habitat improvement, removing non-native invasive weeds, planting with native trees and woodland plants.
Pinewoods Conservation Group is a registered charity which engages with N Yorkshire Council to manage their woodland.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

Training and advice on the use of tools is provided. A love of the outdoors and the opportunity to get muddy are recommended! Encounters with brambles are guaranteed. The work is physically demanding but lighter tasks are also available.

Practical information:

Our sessions are 0930 to 1230 on the first Sunday of the month.
Each session is advertised to the group in an email which details where to meet, usually at one of the entrances to the woodland. Pinewoods is located between the Valley Gardens in Harrogate and RHS Harlow Carr Gardens.
Please see our website (pinewoodsconservationgroup.org.uk) for more information and news about us.

Organisation Information

To make the Pinewoods accessible to all. To assist with maintenance and upkeep of the Pinewoods and to improve the habitat for flora and fauna.
The group’s aim is to promote the maintenance and conservation of the environment within the Harrogate area and especially the area known as the Pinewoods, situated between the Valley Gardens and Harlow Carr Gardens, and such other areas within Harrogate District which the charity may feel falls within its remit.

We also work to promote and encourage the conservation of the natural habitat of wildlife in the area and to advance the education of the public in the use of the woodlands by encouraging them to participate in the management of the woods.
