We need water confident people over the age of 14 who can assist in the teaching of swimming to disabled children. We are looking for volunteers to commit to one hour a week. The children vary in age from 4 to 18 years of age and have a range of different needs. Some of the children need help to maintain concentration, others just need someone to help to build their confidence. It is a noisy session but great fun and very rewarding. We have a team of volunteers so there is plenty of support and camaraderie. This is a hands on role where you will have physical contact with disabled children and you will receive training on how to support the children appropriately and how to enable them to progress.
You need to be a competent swimmer with the ability to instill confidence in children who are worried or nervous. You should be able to swim 100m (4 lengths) and be able to tread water. You will have ongoing support and training and there will always be a teacher in charge of the session.
One hour per week on a Sunday 10.00 - 11.00am.
