Description of the role:

Offering friendship to individual residents; doing a jigsaw puzzle, playing cards or a board game or sharing a cuppa and a chat, or joining us for occasional outings.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

If you are interested in people, kind, good at listening and willing to share your time this role will suit you. If you are sensitive to the needs of older people and enjoy chatting and sharing gentle activities you will find this a rewarding opportunity.

Practical information:

Abbeyfield House, Ripon is a charity running a small residential home with a family atmosphere for older people living independently.
Your volunteer hours offering companionship to one of our residents can be arranged flexibly, in consultation, from an hour per week, fortnight or month. Abbeyfield house is accessible. You will be introduced to Abbeyfield residents and staff by the volunteer link trustee. We will arrange a DBS check and reasonable expenses can be paid.

Abbeyfield Ripon was opened in 1975, the building having been converted and renovated to make it a homely and friendly house. We have 8 studio apartments, and 2 one-bedroomed flats – all have en-suite facilities.
