THE LOCAL FUND for the Harrogate District is an innovative approach to creating a local, long term, sustainable fund to support charitable activity in the Harrogate district

 

THE LOCAL FUND for the Harrogate District 

THE LOCAL FUND was launched in January 2018 to address local need by supporting the work of community groups and charities whose work is dedicated to improving the lives of local people. THE LOCAL FUND will help transform the lives of people in need across the Harrogate District, including Ripon, Knaresborough, Masham, Pateley Bridge, Boroughbridge and all of the surrounding areas.

The Vital Signs Report published in November 2017 highlighted the hidden and unseen needs in the district and helps makes the case for support and need for THE LOCAL FUND.

THE LOCAL FUND was formed as a three-way partnership between Harrogate Borough Council, HADCA and Two Ridings Community Foundation. 

Since its launch THE LOCAL FUND has awarded £330,000 to 127 project, benefitting over 20,000 people across Harrogate District.  

 

 ‘Friends of the LOCAL FUND’ - a group of like-minded people and organisations who wish to encourage charitable giving and gain support for THE LOCAL FUND in the Harrogate District. 

 

How can I get involved? 

Join ‘Friends of the LOCAL FUND’  to encourage charitable giving and gain support for THE LOCAL FUND in the Harrogate District. 

​A ‘Friend’ acts as an ambassador at events and meetings to encourage support for the Fund. Remember every penny donated stays local.  

Your support could also include any of the following:  

 · Identify potential donors and applicants to the Fund 

· Promote different ways to give

· Make a donation, though this is not a pre-requisite

· Set up your own named fund

· Consider leaving a gift in your will to the Fund

 

Who can become a Friend? 

Anyone who cares passionately about the Harrogate District and would like to make a positive difference by improving the quality of life for disadvantaged people and communities across the area is encouraged to join.

There is no cost to joining as a Friend.
