Choosing an Online Donation Site
Before signing up for an online donation site you may wish to consider:
- Is the site is compatible with the social media you use?
- Do you need to set up individual fundraising pages for challenge events?
- Does the website charge a fixed rate per year or do they take a percentage of each donation your receive?
- Is the website a member of Fundraising Standards Board (FRSB)? Please not most online giving sites are not registered charities and are not required to sign up to the FRSB. However a few have signed up voluntarily.
Think about how much money you expect to generate through online donations per year and plan how you will use your online donate facility. (For example you are likely to raise more money online if you have volunteers taking part in sponsored events than if you are just asking for donations via twitter). The terms and conditions for online giving sites should be read carefully. Before signing up for an account make sure you understand the website's charging system.
