THE LOCAL FUND re-opens to support local groups

THE LOCAL FUND re-opens 13 May to support local groups

Community groups and projects can apply for grants from THE LOCAL FUND for the Harrogate District, supported by donations from THE LOCAL LOTTO and Harrogate-based Full Circle Funerals.

As COVID19 restrictions continue to be lifted, THE LOCAL FUND for the Harrogate District re-opens on 13 May 2021 for applications from local groups in the Harrogate district running projects or wanting to restart delivery of activities and services.

Grants will be available of between £200 and £3,000.  Applications need to be received by 21st June 2021 with decisions and grants awarded in late July.

This is the second round of THE LOCAL FUND for the Harrogate District in 2021 and the pot available for grants this time round has been enhanced thanks to generous support from Full Circle Funerals and their Full Circle Fund and contributions from THE LOCAL LOTTO.

Sarah Jones, CEO of Full Circle Funerals which is based on Skipton Road in Harrogate, said “As funeral directors we naturally find ourselves working at the heart of the Harrogate community and we know from experience how much of an impact Covid-19 has had on individuals and the support services that would normally be available to them.

“We have been very keen to do something positive to help activities and projects resume after Covid-19 and THE LOCAL FUND seemed like the perfect opportunity to offer far-reaching support where it is most needed.

“We are looking forward to receiving applications for funding and working with community groups to make things happen.”

Jan Garrill Chief Executive of Two Ridings Community Foundation said: “THE LOCAL FUND in this round will focus on supporting community inspired and led projects, activities and events. We know many local groups are keen to re-start activities once the current Covid19 restrictions are lifted and we want to be able to support them with grants.”

Councillor Sam Gibbs, chair of Harrogate Borough Council’s voluntary and community sector liaison group and LOCAL FUND grants panel member, said: “THE LOCAL FUND provides continuous support for our local voluntary and community sector organisations and charities across the Harrogate district and the residents they support.

“It has been an incredibly tough year for them. And now, more than ever, it is critical these charities can access funds for projects.

THE LOCAL FUND for the Harrogate District has been established to provide grant funding to local community groups and charities across the District. It is supported by a partnership of Harrogate Borough Council, Harrogate & District Community Action and Two Ridings Community Foundation.  It will focus on addressing local need by supporting the work of community groups and charities whose work is dedicated to improving the lives of local people.
