Harrogate & District Allotment Federation will be holding its 62nd Annual Allotment Show in the Sun Pavilion in the Valley Gardens on Sunday 20th August 2023 from 11.00 – 16.00.
The Show provides allotment plot holders from across Harrogate, Ripon, Knaresborough and Boroughbridge with the opportunity to showcase their gardening achievements and baking skills. Children can show off their creative skills too.
The Allotment sites will also be producing ‘Simply Red’ arrangements to include red flowers, fruit and vegetables for this year’s inter-site Allotment Competition, which will be judged by Tim Kellett, former member of the band Simply Red .
Judging will take place between 10.00 and 12.00, and then the Deputy Mayor of Ripon Councillor Eamon Parkin and his consort Lucy Proud will officially open the Show.
Trophies are awarded at the end of the show to those plot holders who have achieved the most points in certain categories or who have presented particularly prize exhibits. The trophies will be awarded by Nick Smith, Director of Harrogate Flower Shows.
Profits from the shows go to a local nominated charity each year to enhance their gardening projects. This year’s charity is Ripon in Bloom, who intend to use the donation to help with the refurbishment of Bedern Bank.
Entry to the Show is free. There will be a fantastic raffle, tombola stall, cakes, produce and plant stalls as well as artisan craft stalls and stalls showcasing local charities.
