Where to Turn

Causeway

Causeway is a national charity that exists to create lasting change for marginalised and vulnerable people. This includes survivors of modern slavery and those caught in cycles of exploitation and crime.

Causeway has been supporting thousands of individuals to make progress and thrive for more than 10 years, and we currently work with over 2,000 services users each year. We offer a person-centred approach to trauma support, so that those on their recovery journey feel seen and heard, but not judged or defined by their experiences.

Causeway provides services including, but not limited to: safe houses, one-to-one specialist support, holistic crisis support interventions and community connection groups. We also signpost service users into: counselling, training courses, volunteering and employment.

Causeway is committed to raising awareness of modern slavery, human trafficking and crime reduction across the UK, as we advocate for a fairer and more understanding society. We do this through: investing in research, national campaigning, strategic partnerships, community and corporate fundraising, training courses, and collaborating with local authorities, government officials, media and influencers.

Causeway are committed to hearing, amplifying and investing in the voices of our service users. We partner with influential research centres and academics to make sure our contributions are vigorous, ethical and impactful, and provide our service users opportunities to learn new skills and take part in research projects. We are innovative in our approach to participation and work with other leaders in the sector to inform and learn from best practice.

Causeway’s Help and Advice Hub is a free online resource available to all. It offers information and guidance on spotting signs of modern slavery, supporting modern slavery survivors, understanding trauma, building a life beyond criminality, and a glossary of key terminology. The hub also provides signposting into wider helplines and support services, and offers a bank of downloadable resources.
