Where to Turn

The Village

Formerly known as Baby Basics Harrogate, this is a volunteer-led project aiming to support new mothers and families who are struggling to meet the financial and practical burden of looking after a new baby and/ or family. The Village accepts professional and self-referrals from new mums and families that have practical needs e.g. nappies, wipes, clothing, school uniform or any other day to day necessities. The Village is also open on Wednesdays (in term-time) from 9:30-11:30 for walk-ins.

The project aims to alleviate material poverty amongst families with small children, including expectant parents and to build a safe community where mums and families can find friendship and purpose.

The Village provides much needed essentials and equipment to mothers and families who are unable to provide these items for themselves; including but not limited to teenage mums, people seeking asylum and women fleeing domestic abuse and trafficking.
Working with health visitors and other professional groups to provide support directly where it is most needed, volunteers lovingly collect, sort and package a ‘Moses Basket’ of clothes, toiletries and essential baby equipment as an attractive gift to new mothers.

Donations are accepted, please check Facebook and/or the website to see what is needed.
