Re-engage

Re-engage is dedicated to tackling loneliness and social isolation among older people aged over 75.
In response to the coronavirus crisis regular social gatherings are suspended but a UK-wide call companions service has been set up. Anyone over 75 who’s feeling alone can receive a regular friendly phone call throughout the crisis and beyond, for as long as they want it.

We organise monthly Sunday afternoon tea parties for small groups of older people who live alone, offering a vital friendship link every month. Each older person is collected from their home by a volunteer driver and taken to a volunteer host's home for the afternoon. The group is warmly welcomed by a different host each month, but the drivers and guests remain the same, which means that over the months and years, acquaintances turn into friends and loneliness is replaced by companionship. We welcome enquiries from potential guests in Harrogate, Knaresborough, Ripon and surrounding areas.
