This year our volunteers have never been more needed and they have stepped up to provide vital services to local people who have no-one else to turn to.
At our HADCA AGM we shared a presentation featuring some of the many volunteers across our Harrogate district who have made a real difference this year. As well as people giving time as part of the local community emergency response to Covid19, we acknowledged volunteers of other organisations who were very active up to March, but have had to take a pause from volunteering these last few months, or who have been supporting charities in many different ways.
We were delighted to be joined by the Mayor of Harrogate Borough, Cllr Stuart Martin; the Mayor of Knaresborough, Cllr Christine Willoughby; the Mayor of Pateley Bridge, Cllr Mike Holt and the Mayor of Boroughbridge, Cllr Pat Taylor as well as our HADCA members, partners and volunteers.
There were no categories or ‘winners’ – everyone giving time this year is a winner!
We are also celebrating those local charities and community groups celebrating a special anniversary this year.

Sadly the 13th Harrogate & District Volunteering Oscars will not take place in 2020 due to Covid-19 restrictions. This annual celebration event is an inspiring and humbling evening, bringing together hundreds of people to thank volunteers for their huge contribution in our district.
John Fox, Oscars organiser and our HADCA Chair, would like you to please make a note in your diary of the date Friday 29 October 2021 - and we hope to see you then for the Harrogate & District Volunteering Oscars Awards Evening 2021!
