Wiliam Merritt Disabled Living Centre
The William Merritt Disabled Living Centre is a registered charity and since 1982 has offered impartial and professional advice for children and adults living with a disability or long-term condition. The Centre carries out assessments for members of the public to help them choose and use daily living aids with confidence and enhance their independence. All assessments are impartial and we offer advice on equipment and where to buy it. We do not sell any equipment at the main Centre. We welcome referrals from healthcare and other professionals.
We are proud to be an accredited member of Driving Mobility offering a variety of assessments for drivers and passengers as well as adapted-vehicle driving lessons.
Check website for dates of next open days. These events are free to attend, with no appointment necessary, when you can ask professional Occupational Therapists questions and try mobility equipment.
The Centre is also the Hubs Mobility Advice Service for North Yorkshire. If driving or use of a car is not possible due to restricted mobility, medical condition, neurodiversity or disability, the Service offers FREE impartial advice on accessible travel options including buses, coaches, rail, air travel and community transport.
