Where to Turn

Nidderdale Museum

This wonderful (and large!) museum is housed in an imposing Victorian workhouse in Pateley Bridge. Across its 13 exhibition spaces, 15 full size re-creations and over 30,000 exhibits, it brings the rich heritage of the dale to life. Visitors can sit in an old school room or pub snug, walk down the 'mine tunnel', see the table laid for tea in a Victorian parlour, visit a complete Cobbler's shop, look in at the Dairy and Blacksmith's....and so much more. Despite its size, it is volunteer-run and offers lots of different and interesting ways to get involved.
