Saint Michael's Volunteer Visitor Service
Saint Michaels Volunteer Visitors Service provides emotional and social support to people in the Harrogate District living with a terminal illness in their own homes. Our network of specially trained volunteers offer one-to-one support tailored to your specific needs. This may include lending a listening ear, accompanying you to medical appointments or a social outing, helping reduce isolation and loneliness and reducing strain on carers. The service is available to anyone living with a terminal illness prior connection with Saint Michaels to be referred for support. You can be referred by any healthcare professional, or refer yourself, by letter, email or telephone. Once referred, we will arrange a home visit so that we can assess how the service is able to meet your needs. The service is the only one of its kind in the Harrogate district and is open to anyone over 18 years of age who is living with a terminal illness. You do not need to have any prior connection with Saint Michaels to have a volunteer visitor. Please note: The service does not provide personal care, clinical care or domestic duties.
