Knaresborough SVP (Saint Vincent de Paul )

The St Vincent de Paul Society (or as it is often known - the SVP) is an international Christian voluntary organisation dedicated to tackling poverty and disadvantage by providing practical assistance to those in need – irrespective of ideology, faith, ethnicity, age or gender.
At Saint Mary’s in Knaresborough the SVP has been active since December 2014, caring for people in need. We visit people in their own homes and in care homes, offering them practical support as well as friendship, comfort and the love that springs from Jesus.
Throughout the year we host community events including afternoon teas and social trips. We sponsor fundraisers, coordinate donations of furniture and other household items for redistribution to people requiring them. Through our connections to the wider SVP organisation we can arrange placements on children's camps and family holidays.
