Description of the role:

Stockroom Assistants – Homewares Expert (Over 18)

In Oxfam Ripon Shop, we're dedicated to fighting poverty and inequality. Behind the scenes, a lot of work gets done to help us sell over one thousand pounds worth of goodies each week. Build your CV, confidence, and skills by volunteering now.

Sorting clothes donations, keeping organised & tidy, valuing & pricing goods, re stocking the shop floor, and displaying items ... If you think you could help with some of this, then give volunteering a try. Some travel and lunch expenses can be covered too. (Please Note: We are unable to take under 18’s due to our shops bieng at capacity with a waiting list.)

What we're looking for:
• Willingness to learn new skills
• Honesty, integrity, and reliability
• Have an interest in homewares?
• Have the eye for Vintage finds?

The Role:
• Sorting donated items
• Researching and valuing donated items
• Pricing and displaying donated items for sale on the shop floor
• Re stocking the shop floor with donated items

Our shop complies with Covid-19 guidance, and we aim to keep everyone safe with thorough cleaning and welfare procedures. Masks and gloves are provided.

Oxfam do not accept applications from anyone on the Sex Offenders list. We may inquire about unspent convictions relevant to the role and you may be required to submit to PVG/DBS check (at no expense to you).

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

No specific skills are required. A love of or knowledge of homewares is an advantage but is not necessary as full training is given.

Practical information:

We offer 4 hour shifts Monday to Saturday 9am - 1pm and 1 - 5pm, however we are very flexible and if you can only do 10am - 2pm or even just a couple of hours that is fine with us.
We pay travel expenses if travelling by bus and parking expenses if travelling to the shop by car. We pay lunch expenses when volunteering for more than 5 hours in one shift.
