The Social Media Volunteer role aims to help promote Ripon Cathedral’s online presence, celebrating the cathedral’s 1350th year via our social media accounts. During our 1350th year we have a broad programme of services, public events, activities and concerts – it is an ideal time to engage new audiences at Ripon Cathedral.
The role includes but is not limited to:
• Generating and managing content for our social media accounts to encourage interest in the faith and heritage of Ripon Cathedral during our 1350th anniversary year
• Creating social media advertising campaigns
• Providing feedback to the Marketing and Comms Team on the opportunities for digital engagement
• Liaising with our Website Volunteers to ensure continuity of message across all of our digital channels
• Experience or interest in corporate social media
• Ability to adapt information provided for an online audience
• Reliable and trustworthy
• Able to work on your own with minimal supervision
• Willingness to develop digital skills and pursue ongoing training
• An appreciation and respect for the core values of the Church of England

Ripon Cathedral is a beautiful, ancient church with a history reaching back to the 7th Century. It is a mother church for the Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales and home for the cathedral (throne) of the Bishop of Leeds.
Visitors have followed the Pilgrim Trail here for over 1300 years, to enjoy the peace and prayerful tranquillity of this beautiful and ancient centre for Christian faith. Whether you are here to enjoy some special music, explore the ancient crypt, light a candle or simply to enjoy the atmosphere and architecture of this holy building, all are welcome. In order to enhance your visit, Guides and Welcomers are on duty in the Cathedral daily between 10.00am and 4.30pm, who are always delighted to answer your questions.
