Description of the role:

On March 26 the Harewood Biennial returns to Harewood with a new exhibition curated by creative consultant, Cambridge University Graduate Hugo MacDonald, Radical Acts: Why Craft Matters.

The exhibition showcases 16 national and international craftspeople and projects in the House and across the whole site. It explores why craft is a ‘radical act’ and asks us to think how craft can help us tackle issues of our modern lives and build a future where we might live in a more environmentally and socially-responsible way.

From From 26 March to 29 August 2022 we are looking for Exhibition Ambassadors to help inspire and empower a wide range of people expected to visit the Harewood Biennial Radical Acts -Why Craft Matters Exhibition.

You will volunteer as part of a team and will be based in a room inside arewood House. Your ole will be to help visitors understand the exhibition and start to think how craft can help us address current issues with a resourceful attitude and hopeful intent.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

We are keen to attract enthusiastic and friendly volunteers and we want to give opportunities to as a wide a range of people as possible. No previous experience of heritage or volunteering is required; just a willingness to engage, educate and entertain the minds of our visitors.

Practical information:

Harewood is well served by the 36 bus service and we will reimburse your travel expenses. We will take into consideration your accessibility needs and try to be as flexible as possible in terms of regular and short term shifts. Morning and afternoon shifts are available 7 days a week and are 2.5hours long. We would ask that you volunteer at least twice a month.
