Description of the role:

Supporting clients with building of furniture. Supporting clients with small DIY tasks such as putting up shelves, hanging blinds/curtains. Collecting and delivering large items such as sofas, beds (access to vehicle required). Roles can be combined or seperate.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

Owns own tools - to be covered by own public liability insurance (essential)
Has access to vehicle to attend jobs
Awareness of domestic abuse (training will be provided)
. High level of engagement skills and communication skills. Awareness of safeguarding processes or willingness to attend training. Trustworthy and reliable.

New Beginnings Peer Support is a peer led charitable organisation supporting female survivors of domestic abuse in the Harrogate District. We provide a safe environment for women and their children to re-establish themselves, reach their goals and achieve a happier, healthier future.
New Beginnings is operating throughout the coronavirus outbreak and services include:-
• 1:1 support via phone/video calls including relevant signposting,
• Peer support WhatsApp group sharing information, encouraging positive support network & providing access to practical & emotional support,
• Private Facebook group & Instagram Account– offering signposting and information,
• Public Facebook page sharing information and raising awareness of the realities of domestic abuse.
Emotional support is provided through peers, mentoring & increasing your support network with practical support including but not limited to housing, business start-ups, finding employment, budgeting, food bank requests, clothing needs, support with family court. All to with the aim of improving your overall health & wellbeing.
This group is for those who feel ready to move on with their life and would like support to do so in a safe and understanding environment. Please note we are not a counselling group. Our aim is to help people start afresh and complement existing services.
