Directors / Trustees

Directors / Trustees
Knaresborough Community Land Trust
Description of the role:

We’re an enthusiastic, friendly group, seeking further Directors to take forward projects aimed at providing affordable housing in our town, as well more ambitious projects over time, to maximise the benefit to residents of our town’s land assets. You would become part of a small team not far from the start of this exciting journey and join a growing movement of similar CLTs nationwide. We are already one of the front-runners in the work we do but, as the current Board members are all volunteers with busy full-time jobs, some extra assistance would really help us in achieving our aim.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

New Board members would ideally have a business background and any experience in bid writing, property or public engagement would also be useful.

Practical information:

The role is voluntary, though expenses would be covered, and the Directors currently meet about every 6 weeks, whilst progressing schemes and seeking opportunities in between meetings.

Organisation Information

We are a not-for-profit community-based organisation run by volunteers, which aims to deliver housing and other community facilities at permanently affordable levels, for local people.

CLTs act as long-term stewards of housing, ensuring that it remains genuinely affordable, based on what people actually earn in their area, not just for now but for every future occupier.

Knaresborough Community Land Trust is an open membership organisation – anyone who is 16 years or over and lives, works or studies in the Knaresborough area or surrounding villages can join.
