The Home Library Service delivers books and audio books to people who find it difficult to visit their local Library in person. We need volunteers to work alongside staff to unpack the returned books and shelve them correctly ready for use next time books are being chosen
The role would suit someone who likes books and has a knowledge of different categories of books. Enjoys putting things in order, is punctual and reliable and is willing to learn some basic library processes. This is a much valued service by our customers and they appreciate the efforts made to find the right books for them
This role requires being able to give a regular commitment of approximately 2 to 3 hours on a Thursday and involves some lifting and carrying of books and bags.
The Home Library Service scheme that covers Harrogate is based in Starbeck rather than at the main town library. There no parking on the premises but ample free street parking and a frequent bus service.
