Description of the role:

We are looking for local adults who are keen to volunteer to help set up and run a youth club in Pateley Bridge. Volunteering to help young people can be done in a number of ways:

Volunteer on a regular basis
Volunteer every so often on a rota
Run a one-off activity/workshop with
the young people sharing your skills
Be a youth club committee member

North Yorkshire Youth’s Youth Development Team (funded by NYCC) offers ongoing
support to communities and volunteers to set up, develop and sustain their own youth club, project and/or events for young people.

By creating a safe, accessible and warm space for young people to meet, we can engage young people in fun positive activities to ensure they are happy, feel included and are listened to.

Practical information:

Time commitment varies on role
Regular helper - 2.5 hours weekly on an evening.
Helper on a rota basis - can specify when available and how often you are able to commit. Evening.
Committee member - attend regular meetings, it is envisaged that these will be more frequent initially whilst setting up the club, then fall into a regular pattern e.g every 2 months dependent on the support required and the role undertaken.
Pateley Bridge is a rural location, there is local bus service but this finishes early evening.
*We are currently looking for expressions of interest before looking for a venue or setting a date and time. Wednesday or Friday evenings 6.30-8.30 has been suggested by young people as a good time to run a session.

Youth Development Workers help set up, support and develop community-led clubs and projects for young people aged 11 - 19 years. NYY also provides training and resources for both new and established clubs and adventurous activities for young people at Carlton Lodge Activity Centre.
