Description of the role:

Volunteers will join our young onset group and two members of staff to go for a day out in the local area. The group do a variety of activities such as walking, visiting museums, playing croquet and table tennis and lots more. The volunteer will travel in the minibus with the group and support throughout the day so that the group have fun in a friendly supportive environment.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

Someone with an interest in working with people with dementia would be ideal. The day may involve walking, so this role would suit someone with an interest in getting out and about.

Practical information:

We are looking to recruit more than one volunteer so we can run a rota for this role. It is a full day of activity and timings are likely to be 10am to 3pm.

Dementia Forward is a local charity which supports people living with dementia across North Yorkshire. Dementia support advisors and a dementia specialist nurse provide a personalised service, from information and advice to practical and emotional support. In addition, under normal circumstances we run social events and weekly groups, focusing on wellbeing and peer support. Anyone can use this free service.
