Keep Fit/Dance Tutor

Keep Fit/Dance Tutor
Vision Support Harrogate District
Description of the role:

It is important to us at Vision Support to promote healthy lifestyles, participation and independent living. One of the ways in we do this is by providing a timetable of leisure and social activities that are accessible and designed specifically to be accessible for people with sight loss. General community exercise classes can be difficult to follow for someone with sight loss due to the large number of attendees and the speed of the routines. Our keep fit class is so popular that we are looking for another enthusiastic exercise tutor to run a small class of willing participants. Participants are aged between 40 and 70 years old, so nothing too strenuous is required. You will be part of a small supportive leisure team, which includes a line dancing tutor and a gentle exercise tutor, who will be happy to discuss any questions you have about this role.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

Knowledge and experience of delivering exercise classes is essential. No experience of working with people with sight loss is necessary as full support from the Vision Support Team and the participants will be given and training will be provided.

Practical information:

The class will run on a Wednesday afternoon, an hour of exercise with half an hour of refreshments. The exercise room is available between 1pm and 3.30pm.
