Description of the role:

Working in our newly opened second-hand bookshop. The bookshop has replaced the old gift shop which closed due to the repercussions of the pandemic. The bookshop will generate income which will solely be used to further our conservation work at Brimham Rocks. The role involves:
Greeting customers and welcoming them into the shop whilst advising of the safety measures we have in place.
Answering questions and advising customers about the stock in the shop.
Taking payment for books and souvenirs.
Keeping the shop looking clean and tidy.
Accepting and pricing new donations of books.
Discarding damaged or redundant stock.
Providing information about Brimham Rocks and the National Trust in general.
Creating displays of books and promoting special offers.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

Just a keen interest in books and helping the work of the National Trust.

Practical information:

Each shift is 4 hours long and can be from 11am until 3pm or from 12pm until 4pm. Volunteers are required for every day of the week and ideally volunteers can work a regular shift each week.

The wider property also has areas of woodland and moorland which are largely unexplored by most visitors, making them a peaceful escape even on the busiest of days.
