Volunteer Stock Processor (Choice of Thurs, Fri, Sat)
Scope Charity Shop in Ripon
Description of the role:

This is a voluntary position which is based behind-the-scenes in our store and focuses on the preparation of stock ready for sale. It is an ideal role for anyone who would like to support Scope’s mission but would prefer to work within a non-customer facing environment.

You will be responsible for processing and sorting through our incoming donations, carefully selecting quality items to display on our shop floor. Learning how to use a ticketing gun and a garment steamer, developing your brand knowledge and practical skills whilst helping to make a real difference to disabled people and their families at a time of need.

Specialist areas of interest are very much embraced, whether that be fashion, books, media, bric-a-brac or electrical items. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment for our volunteers which means we have tasks available for everyone, no matter how big or small.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

No specific skills or experience are required for this volunteer position, just a positive attitude and a willingness to comply with our health and safety procedures.

We welcome anyone who is interested in charity shops, passionate about disability equality, wants to develop their skills or to meet new people. Full training and ongoing support will be delivered by a member of management to ensure efficiency and success in the role.

Practical information:

Scope is located in central Ripon in close proximity to the market square.
We are accessible via public transport (the 36 bus passes our shop).

We are currently looking for help on a Thursday, Friday and a Saturday.
Ideally a minimum time commitment of 1 hour per week, but all time dedicated is appreciated.
We will do our best to offer flexibility and suit hours to the individual.

Our sorting area and facilities are based in the upstairs of the building so accessibility will need to be taken into consideration.
