The Wensleydale Railway has received lottery funding to renovate the Leeming Bar Station House into a living museum and education centre. We're taking our visitors back to 1925 and we need historical researchers and recorders to help us find the fine details that will really count towards making our visitor experience real. If you're interested in researching kitchenalia and clothes, post room equipment and Station Master's parlour paraphernalia, waiting room adverts and wash room accessories, then you'll be helping us bring the station back to life. We're also looking for those who can interview older people with long memories for our Reminiscence project.
Bring an enquiring mind and an interest in the early C20th history and that will be a great start. This opportunity is valuable to any potential career but those looking for careers in education and teaching, marketing and PR, heritage and the museum sector, social work and law would certainly benefit. You might be wanting to add research, recording, cataloguing and presentation skills and experience for an A level, a Further Education application, some CPD, a change of career direction or you might just enjoy being part of a lively, like-minded team. We'll log all your training, experience and work so that you have a portfolio of skills that employers value - and you'll be able to present them with confidence.
Fully-flexible! Any number of hours, no set days, home-based (station-based work post-lockdown) and we can help with transport cost for those on low incomes.
