Yorkshire Cancer Community
Description of the role:

We are looking for people to join our Board of Trustees to help govern our small cancer charity which offers a support and information network across Yorkshire. The Board meet by Zoom, so applicants can come from any area. We are looking for someone with an interest in improving support services to people affected by cancer.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

We're looking for people who can work cooperatively with others and would like to help us grow and develop our charity.
Skills which would be helpful, but not obligatory are: digital and marketing skills; financial management; human resources and legal experience; someone familiar with health and social care.

Practical information:

We meet for two hours each quarter via Zoom, and we have small working groups which also meet via Zoom. We offer an induction and training.
Our meetings are no longer face to face and we will continue meeting online for the foreseeable future. If and when face to face meetings resume, we meet in wheelchair accessible premises, close to public transport. Out of pocket expenses are paid.

The Yorkshire Cancer Community is a patient-led charity offering a voice to those affected by cancer in Yorkshire and the Humber.
It is free to join and provides information and support including a website with an A – Z of cancer charities and organisations, opportunities to join patient and carer panels, focus groups, research projects, conferences and training.
We also offer a regular newsletter, an online support group and a cancer awareness project in which volunteers help promote positive health messages.
