North Yorkshire Sport (NYS) is looking for an outstanding individual, with a passion for improving the lives of the citizens of North Yorkshire and an understanding of the challenging economic climate small and medium enterprises are operating in.
We are specifically seeking a Trustee with financial experience who can Chair our Finance Sub Committee and work closely with the Finance Manger to oversee Board finance reports.
NYS is an independent Charitable trust with an annual turnover of circa £1.1m, that uses Sport as a Driver for Positive Change and we are looking to appoint a new Trustee to work alongside our existing Board as well as our national, regional, sub regional and district partners.
Trustees of NYS serve on a voluntary basis, although reasonable out of pocket expenses will be paid.
Time commitment – 4 full days which includes 4 Board meetings (one of which includes the AGM) and up to 3 business development sessions per annum (held in conjunction with the Board meetings).
The Finance Trustee will also be required to attend 4 Finance sub Committee meetings per annum.
Key experiences and skills required for the Trustee:
Key Skills
• The ability to contribute objectively and consistently to discussion and debate within a board environment.
• An Accountancy qualification
Desirable Skills
• It is a desirable feature, although not essential that the Trustee has had some experience which demonstrates a knowledge and awareness of sports contribution to at least one of the following areas:
o Voluntary sector sport and national governing bodies of sport; local government leisure and sport; education; health; safer/stronger communities; private/commercial sector business;
o Charitable Bodies

North Yorkshire Sport is a County Sport Partnership whose role is to bring stakeholders of sport together to help ensure there are opportunities for everyone across North Yorkshire to participate in sport and physical activity.
Volunteering is integral within sport and a wide and varied number of skills, qualities and roles can be utilized within the sport club environment. Whether that be as a coach or referee to other skills including administration, financial, management to name just a few.
As the Counties strategic sporting lead North Yorkshire Sport can utilise their networks and extended sporting partners to signpost people to appropriate volunteer opportunities.
