Little Crickets Pre-school
Description of the role:

Can you spare 1-2 hours per week to help a wonderful pre-school based in Harrogate? Would you like to give something back to a registered charity whose main objectives are 'not for profit'?

We are looking for a new Treasurer at Little Crickets Pre-school and would welcome volunteers from the wider community to help fulfil this diverse role. It's a great opportunity for someone with a finance/accounting background who wants to give something back to the community, learn new skills, enhance their CV and/or meet some new people.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

The overall role of the Treasurer is to maintain an overview of the pre-schools affairs ensuring its financial viability and that proper financial records and procedures are maintained. The Committee as a whole is responsible for making financial decisions, however, the Treasurer enables these decisions by providing financial updates and recommendations.
Supporting the Chairperson and the Manager at Little Crickets to help develop and maintain a welcoming and inclusive pre-school where all children feel confident to explore their naturally curious minds and feel valued, loved and cared for within a stimulating environment by:
• Producing budget for the year ahead and updates throughout the year with actuals and latest estimates.
• Working with accounting firm (CCF) to ensure management accounts, annual accounts and tax returns are complete, accurate and filed on time.
• Filing annual confirmation statement with Companies House
• Creating all payments for invoices and payroll in online banking system (all payments are checked and approved by Chair and payroll is calculated by accountancy firm CCF).
• Preparing a financial update for each Committee meeting and advises on the financial implications of the Board's plans to enable decisions to be taken.
• Undertaking childcare fee reviews and staff pay reviews annually.
• Ensuring financial procedures and controls are in place.

Practical information:

Time commitment: Varies per week, on average 1-2 hours per week. Days and time of week are flexible (please note selected days/times listed below are not accurate as the field had to be populated for this form). Management committee meetings are usually held once per term (ie 3 x per academic year).

Little Crickets Pre-school provides a happy, stimulating and secure environment for pre-school children aged from 2 – 5 years old.

We are located on the Harrogate Cricket Ground where we have a fit for purpose building with plenty of space both indoors and outdoors.

Little Crickets Pre-school is a non-profit making registered charity. It is managed by a voluntary Management Board of Parents/Carers and has a paid team of qualified staff.

The Pre-school was established as ‘Harlow Hilltop Pre-school’ in 1974 and was originally situated in the ‘Green Hut’, Harlow Community Centre, Harrogate. In January 2012 it moved to its current location at Harrogate Cricket Club and changed it’s name to Little Crickets Pre-school.

We are regularly inspected by Ofsted in order to ensure that the quality of care and education we provide meets their standards. We work closely with our parents to provide the best in early years education.
