Description of the role:

We have a current vacancy for a Trustee on our governing Board. We are a fast growing and much needed service and you would be joining a dynamic and enthusiastic team. We are looking for an individual with a strong financial background, detailed knowledge of Sage software, capable of supervising the regular preparation of monthly management accounts and able to direct the preparation of our annual accounts. Knowledge of the charity sector is not essential.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

A strong financial background, including detailed knowledge of Sage software, capable of supervising the regular preparation of monthly management accounts and able to direct the preparation of our annual accounts. We are looking for someone who would like to be involved in serving their community. Experience of dementia would be an advantage but is not necessary. We particularly welcome applications from candidates who would bring greater diversity to our Board.

Practical information:

This is a voluntary, unpaid role. Each year there are:

Eleven Board meetings lasting approximately 2-3 hours. Typically on a Monday evening.

Each Trustee also takes an active part in one of our subgroups which meet as and when required but probably no more than once a month.

The trustee will also be required to work from the office prior to the trustee meeting to prepare the accounts. This will be done within working hours at a time convenient for the individual.

During the coronavirus outbreak, activities are not taking place but Dementia Forward is operating a support helpline staffed by professional dementia support advisors for anyone who needs any help, including carers and family members. The helpline (03300 578592) is open Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm.

Dementia Forward is a local charity which supports people living with dementia across North Yorkshire. Dementia support advisors and Admiral Nurses provide a personalised service, from information and advice to practical and emotional support. In addition, they run social events and weekly groups, focusing on wellbeing and peer support. Anyone can use this free service. Please call our local helpline on 03300 578592 between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Friday.
