Resurrected Bites Cafe Volunteer

Resurrected Bites Cafe Volunteer
Resurrected Bites CIC
Description of the role:

The Resurrected Bites Cafe opened in January 2018 and has been very busy ever since. We are not an ordinary cafe though as we intercept good quality food "waste" from shops, cafes and wholesalers and resurrect it into delicious, nutritious meals. The cafe runs on a pay as you feel basis which means that everyone can afford to go out for a meal. We have big communal tables to encourage community and conversation. We also raise money for charity. We have a great team of volunteers who help with collecting the food, prepping and cooking the food and serving.

We are about to launch our second cafe at Gracious Street on 7 February 2020. We expect that each cafe will be well-attended and therefore have a lot of food to serve and so we are looking for someone to join our team of volunteers to serve the food or to help to prep or cook the food. We also need people to help with washing up.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

Do you enjoy team work and working in a busy cafe or kitchen?

We will provide level 2 food hygiene training if you do not already have a current certificate.

We are looking for people who enjoy working in a busy cafe and kitchen, and are willing to help with clearing up and washing up when needed.

Practical information:

We are ideally looking for people who can either help 9-3 or 11-3 on a Friday. The cafe is open weekly but you can offer to do weekly, bi-weekly or monthly and there is flexibility on the hours.

The cafes are closed for the foreseeable future due to the coronavirus outbreak, but the team are trying to meet demand for food deliveries to the most vulnerable in the Harrogate district who would not be able to afford a commercial home delivery service.
If you know anyone in need of a food parcel because they are self-isolating and cannot afford to buy food from a commercial business please email for an order form or call 01423 593937 and the team will do their best to deliver food.
People struggling to access food can now complete an online form to receive 3 days worth of food. Deliveries are made Mon to Fri in Harrogate, Knaresborough, Boroughbridge and Ripon. Orders need to be placed by 1pm on the day before a delivery is needed. Check the facebook page for drop off points for food donations.
