Harrogate Christmas Market
Description of the role:

Part of a team of voluntary Market Makers, meeting, greeting, advising and helping Market Traders and Visitors to the annual Harrogate Christmas Market on 15th to 18th November 2018.

Tasks will vary each day - for example:

Tuesday & Wednesday - helping Traders locate their pitch, unload vehicles and guard their goods whilst vehicles are taken to the car park.
Thursday to Sunday - look after stalls whilst Traders have a comfort break; welcome, guide and answer questions from visitors.

Sunday evening and Monday - look after stalls whilst traders fetch and load their vehicles; help to clear the site of any remaining equipment and litter.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

Knowledge of Harrogate Town Centre - where key facilities are located - such as banks, bars, cafes, toilets, etc

Practical information:

The event is open for four days plus 2 days setting up and 1 day breaking down. We need help from about 09.00 until 21.00 in three 4-hour shifts. Volunteers will be standing up and walking about the Market site for most of the time. Refreshments are provided.

Organisation Information

The Harrogate Christmas Market will take place from Thursday 15th to Sunday 18th November 2018. Open at 10am until 8pm, except Sunday when it ends at 5pm. Admission for visitors is free.
Held on The Stray in the historic Montpellier Quarter of Harrogate town centre, this four-day festive market will be filled with high quality Yorkshire and Harrogate products. This year it is expected to have nearly 200 stalls selling everything from Yorkshire cheeses and chutneys to handmade gifts and Christmas decorations. Not forgetting Santa's Grotto and real reindeer!
