Description of the role:

Young Enterprise Company Programme inspires students to set up and run their own real company guided by a Young Enterprise Business Advisor. Your enthusiasm, knowledge and real life experiences will enrich the learning for students and help them to understand the world of volunteer and prepare for their futures. You would also share in the learning experience, exploring and developing your own skills and knowledge alongside the students. Come and help to deliver the mission of Young Enterprise to inspire and equip young people to learn and succeed through enterprise. Your contribution will make a real difference to the lives and potential of the young people in your area and will also have a positive impact on the local community and economy by contributing to the creation of a more motivated, educated and enterprising volunteerforce.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

You will have enthusiasm, commitment and experience of the world of volunteer. You would volunteer in a local school or hotel or hall - if a larger programme is being provided. You may assist some students in a competition.

Practical information:

Time commitment varies depending on the volunteer role. The role of Business Advisor is a weekly commitment during term time, usually for a hour, the same day and time each week in the same school.
Should you choose to be involved in the Young Enterprise one day events then these opportunities will be on a ad hoc basis in schools, usually lasting a full school day.

Young Enterprise Yorkshire and Humber runs enterprise programmes for more than 15,000 young people in over 300 schools, colleges and universities each year. The organisation is one of 12 regional bodies and is run by an elected board of directors. Our programmes offer students of all ages experience of enterprise. From learning about the world of work through the experiences of volunteers in Primary Programme to creating real businesses and generating profits in the Company Programme. All YE programmes are based on the principle of 'learning by doing' and each involves practical, fun. hands on activities led by volunteers in partnership with teachers, using specifically designed YE materials.
