Admissions Member Services Volunteer
National Trust - Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal
Description of the role:

Based at the Visitor Centre, and occasionally at other entrances, you’ll be a member of our admissions team operating a members-only service point. At peak periods (especially weekends, bank holidays and school holidays) it’s important that the queue keeps moving, you’ll help us achieve this by taking care of the National Trust members, scanning their cards and welcoming them to the site. You’ll be their first port of call and you’ll help ensure that their visit is both memorable and enjoyable

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

This role will suite people who love meeting visitors. You’ll want to see who’s next, meeting them with enthusiasm and confidence, always willing to help out. It can get pretty hectic at the visitor centre on peak days so you’ll need to be calm yet flexible enough to deal with the unexpected, whether it’s giving support to a first aid incident or welcoming a celebrity. It’s likely you’ll also have a passion for history, conservation and the aims of the Trust.

Practical information:

Admissions volunteers commit to a rota and normally volunteer at least once a fortnight. You’ll be expected to attend the following training: Two day Estate Induction; Service Promise training; Role specific training. Out-of-pocket travel costs between home and volunteering place will be paid up to a maximum of 40 miles, and other reasonable expenses agreed in advance.
