Store/ Street Collector
Saint Michael's Hospice
Description of the role:

Cash collections form an important part of the fundraising operations, earning vital cash income for Saint Michael's. We hold regular street collections in addition to collections in supermarkets and shopping centres throughout Harrogate and the surrounding district (Ripon, Wetherby and Boroughbridge). Volunteers usually collect for one or two hours on each occasion, volunteering as part of a rota to cover each collection. When the dates of the collections are published volunteers may ring in to indicate when they might be able to help, alternatively the fundraising team will contact registered collectors to ask if they are available.

Key tasks:
- According to the rota, collectors arrive on time and go to the specified meeting point.
- Volunteers collect a sash, badges if required and a collection box or bucket
- Volunteers go to the allocated collection point to start collecting or to relieve the volunteer already in place
- At the end of the allotted time volunteers either hand over to the next person or return to the meeting point with the collecting box for it to be kept securely
- Adhere to all Saint Michael's policies and procedures

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

Must be:
- Mobile and able to stand or sit comfortably for up to 2 hours
