Description of the role:

This role is ideal for those wanting to play an active and instrumental role in fundraising for Saint Michael's and Herriot Hospice Homecare. Our Fundraising Groups raise funds and awareness for the Hospices on a continual basis within their own communities. They organise a wide range of fundraising events from cake stalls to dances. A volunteer interested in this role can join an existing group or play an instrumental role in developing a new group of their own. This sort of volunteering isy and the hours our decided by the members of the fundraising group as and when is best for them. They are responsible for organising and thinking of their own ways of fundraising , with close guidance and consultation with the Fundraising Team. The roles within our Fundraising Groups are often the most rewarding, sociable and are perfect for those wanting to volunteer as a team, get 'stuck in', and see an immediate impact from their fundraising efforts. Key tasks: Organising events, which can include; o ticket selling o organising publicity and press o seeking sponsorship or gifts in kind o event management o volunteering effectively as a team member whilst being self motivated as an individual Representing Saint Michael's in the community in an effective and positive manner and creating community links Keeping accurate financial records and ensuring that all fundraising activities are undertaken in a cost effective and transparent manner. To offer skills which may be used for specific roles within the team such as expertise in book-keeping, marketing, organisational planning or computer skills, which the group can utilize in order to maximise its potential. Good organisational skills.Friendly and approachable.Some basic computer skills would be an advantage.Great communication skills

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

Strong and collaborative team player. To offer skills which may be used for specific roles within the team such as expertise in book-keeping, marketing, organisational planning or computer skills, which the group can utilize in order to maximise its potential. To have a dedicated approach to supporting the Hospice in its fundraising and overall service provision. Good organisational skills. Friendly and approachable. Some basic computer skills would be an advantage. Great communication skills.

Practical information:

This role will be based in various locations out and about in the local community as required

Saint Michael's Hospice offers a range of specialist services to help local people living with terminal illness achieve the best possible quality of life. Services offered from the Hospice include: lymphoedema support, day therapy, inpatient care, support for families and carers, bereavement support. Patient services are delivered by a team of specialists, including consultants, dieticians, doctors, nurses, social workers, complementary therapists, chaplains, physiotherapist, psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers and support workers. This team works in partnership with other health and social care professionals involved with patients to ensure all care is personalised to meet a persons particular needs.
